Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel Gets Green Light for $200M Makeover

Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel, nestled in Long Island, New York, has been given the initial green light for a grand $200 million expansion. The proposed plan by Suffolk OTB showcases a fresh construction spreading over 110,000 square feet, situated to the north of the current casino hotel. Construction is projected to kick off by November, with a completion goal set for late 2025.

Phil Boyle, the CEO and President of Suffolk OTB, conveyed his excitement and cautious optimism about the tentative approval to Patch. He anticipates the Islandia authorities granting the final approval by August 1st.

Boyle said, “We believe we’ve answered most of, if not all, the concerns of our neighbors and village officials. We look forward to continuing a partnership with them as we move toward a big expansion.”

Suffolk OTB’s blueprint envisions the venue boasting 2000 video lottery terminals, with 500 to be relocated from the existing building. In the meantime, the Jake’s 58 restaurant will undergo a transformation into a sports bar, given Suffolk OTB’s intention to incorporate a sportsbook. Boyle revealed that the new construction would host a food hall comprising a blend of high-end and mid-range restaurants.

The renovation project will also breathe new life into the hotel’s 210 rooms, while additions such as a concierge level, bridal suites, an ultra lounge, and a high-end bar are on the cards. The parking infrastructure will also be enhanced, with an extra 1,400 spaces increasing the total capacity to 2,000, and a three-story parking garage is in the pipeline.

Addressing concerns of some residents over noise, Boyle assured that a 10-foot sound buffer wall, costing $1.25 million, would be one of the early features of the expansion project. This wall, equipped with advanced soundproofing and adorned with greenery, is intended to shield neighbors from construction noise.
