The World Series of Poker (WSOP) confirmed that Brian Rast, the favorite tipped for selection, has been chosen as the inductee to the 2023 Poker Hall of Fame. Rast’s latest win in the prestigious Event #43: $50,000 Poker Players Championship — his third victory in this event — was instrumental in sealing his induction.
The Poker Players Championship is often considered the second most significant WSOP event annually. While there were nine other formidable nominees via the fan vote in June, Rast’s latest victory largely determined his selection. As per the tradition, the decision to induct Rast was backed by the 31 existing members of the Poker Hall of Fame.
Rast’s poker prowess has been evident for over a decade, with consistent victories in the most elite tournaments and high-stake cash games. His contribution and achievements were lauded by the WSOP Vice President Jack Effel, ahead of Event #86: $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold’em. During the ceremony, Rast was honored for his PPC win and was subsequently informed of his selection into the Hall of Fame.
Gratefully acknowledging his induction, Rast said, “Thank you to the current Hall of Fame members for having the power to select me.” The announcement was made in Paris Las Vegas, amidst an appreciative crowd of poker enthusiasts.
In addition to his three Poker Players Championship titles, Rast boasts three more WSOP bracelets. He also took home thel Super High Roller Bowl in 2015. The California-born player topped this $500,000 buy-in competition, bagging $7,525,000 — his highest-ever winning. The Super High Roller Bowl marked the debut tournament of Poker Central, now known as PokerGO, and witnessed Rast defeat Scott Seiver in a thrilling heads-up match.
