Simone Andrian got himself another big win in just a few weeks time at the PokerStars Summer Festival Malta Main Event, walking away with a €153,610 prize. The five-day tournament held at the InterContinental Hotel in Malta, witnessed Andrian’s successful conversion of an overnight chip lead into a championship win.
This is Andrian’s second significant win in a month, having recently clinched the WPT Sanremo title for €147,020. Norwegian player Tommy Nguyen trailed in second place with €95,850, while Marcin Lesniewski of Poland secured the third position with €68,470. The main event drew a strong participation of 916 entries, amassing a prize pool of €879,000.
The competition was tight on the final day. Lesniewski demonstrated a powerful performance, eliminating two competitors and taking the lead. However, his strong position was short-lived as both Docherty and Andrian chipped away at his lead.
Andrian’s game-changing move came when he caught Lesniewski’s triple barrel bluff, propelling him to the forefront. Simultaneously, Nguyen was steadily building his stake, turning the competition into a tight race.
Andrian solidified his dominance by eliminating Docherty and advancing to fourth place. Nguyen followed by dismissing Lesniewski. In the final head-to-head duel, Andrian systematically eroded Nguyen’s chips. The decisive moment came when Andrian paired his hand in an all-in situation on the flop, sealing his victory in the event.
