The International Gaming Standards Association (IGSA) has established a Responsible Gaming Committee (RGC) to address the issue of problem gambling, following a unanimous resolution by the Board of Directors. This significant initiative intends to give regulators and operators with resources and assistance in encouraging responsible gaming practices. Notably, Alan Feldman, a known expert in responsible gaming and player protection from the UNLV International Gaming Institute, will serve on the committee.
The implementation of the Responsible Gaming Maturity Model (RGMM) is one of the IGSA Responsible Gaming Committee’s primary goals. This framework is intended to aid regulators and operators in the implementation of complete responsible gaming practices. Industry stakeholders will be able to build particular and predictable responsible gaming models by utilizing the RGMM. As a result, they will be able to successfully identify, anticipate, and prevent situations of problem gambling.
Earle G. Hall, Chairman of the IGSA, stated the importance of establishing a global standard for responsible gaming. Recognizing regulators’ outstanding efforts thus far, Hall emphasized the significance of integrating best practices into a cohesive approach. The goal is to create a data-driven, predictive model that reduces the load on regulators and operators alike. The IGSA’s goal is to create a comprehensive journey from discovery to quantitative management, providing a more effective and streamlined procedure for all stakeholders.
Hall also mentioned the extraordinary support received from IGSA members, affiliates, and partners ready to contribute to this historic effort. The establishment of the Responsible Gaming Committee is a crucial step towards creating a safer and more responsible gaming environment around the world.
The gaming industry is taking a proactive approach to problem gambling with the formation of the IGSA Responsible Gaming Committee and the implementation of the Responsible Gaming Maturity Model. Regulators and operators may play a critical role in preventing and managing problem gaming by harnessing the experience of industry leaders and adopting a data-driven, predictive methodology. The industry’s commitment to responsible gaming practices indicates its commitment to providing a safer and more pleasurable experience for players globally.
