Danville Casino Generates Nearly $12 Million in Revenue

According to the Virginia Lottery’s most recent report, the recently launched Danville Casino outperformed expectations, earning nearly $12 million in its first partial month of operation. The casino’s success has injected new life into the city and promises to be a big economic force.

The 768 slot machines generated around $10.2 million of the total income, while the 25 table games contributed an extra $1.7 million. The total sum of $11.9 million illustrates the Danville Casino’s great attraction and engagement.

The casino’s success translates into significant tax revenue for the city. According to the study, the casino paid more than $2.1 million in taxes, with almost one-third, or $715,000, going to Danville. Furthermore, $17,000 will go to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund, $4,300 to the Children’s Trust Fund, and the remaining $1.4 million will go to the state’s Gaming Proceeds Fund.

Danville got an additional $300,000 as part of the casino development deal with Caesars, the casino’s operator, in May. This cash injection demonstrates Caesars’ and the city’s working partnership.

City Manager Ken Larking emphasized the necessity of spending the money properly and following the suggestions of the Investing in Danville Committee. The committee’s recommendations include a wide range of topics, including boosting education, increasing economic possibilities for inhabitants, upgrading neighborhoods, investing in quality-of-life amenities, and promoting financial stability. The city intends to secure long-term sustainable benefits for its community by following these methods.

In the coming fiscal year, Danville expects to receive around $12.1 million in gaming taxes from Caesars Virginia. Around $4.1 million of this total comes from a performance agreement with Caesars, which guarantees a minimum annual payment of $5 million as long as the casino is open. The remaining $8 million is the predicted state-collected local gaming tax revenue from the temporary casino over the next year. Furthermore, the community is excitedly anticipating the opening of the permanent casino, which is expected for late next year.

Mayor Alonzo Jones credited Caesars’ extensive customer loyalty programme and the large number of potential customers within driving distance of Danville for the casino’s early success. Mayor Jones praised Caesars as a useful partner and emphasized the city’s commitment to responsible stewardship.

The Danville Casino’s accomplishments add to Virginia’s total casino revenue, which reached an astonishing $45.5 million in May. This amount includes revenue generated by the state’s three functioning casinos: the Hard Rock Casino Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and, of course, the Danville Casino.

With the Danville Casino’s great performance and beneficial influence on the local economy, the city and its citizens are looking forward to a successful future, fueled by ongoing partnership with Caesars and the further growth of Virginia’s casino industry.
