Hard Rock International, in cooperation with Rideau Carleton Casino, has announced the start of construction for the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa. The construction will get off with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 6, 2023, at 2:30 p.m.
The event will be attended by a number of dignitaries, including Hard Rock International executives, Seminole Tribe representatives, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation officials, and elected Ottawa officials, including the city’s Mayor. This presentation is intended to shed further light on the project’s specifics, with fresh drawings and specifications.
Rebranding Rideau Carleton Casino
This development is an outcome of Hard Rock International’s strategic collaboration with Rideau Carleton Casino. As per their service agreement with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Hard Rock assumed operational control of Rideau Carleton Casino in September 2017. In line with its global strategy, Hard Rock is set to give the property a new identity, aiming to elevate its market positioning and appeal.
Massive Investment & Projected Benefits
The project comprises a $350 million investment, making it one of the largest private finance ventures in Ottawa at the moment. The project intends to convert Ottawa into a leading gaming and entertainment destination, with the last touches being applied to the building layout. It has the potential to benefit the local economy by regaining approximately $60 million in gaming revenue now lost to Quebec by Ontario residents and visitors. The project, which is wholly funded by Hard Rock and Rideau Carleton Casino, is expected to produce significant tax income of more than $206 million for the Province of Ontario, the Canadian Federal Government, and the City of Ottawa once completed. When fully functioning, the City of Ottawa will receive over $13 million per year.
