Renowned online gambling brand PokerStars, a significant division of Flutter Entertainment plc, has announced its latest strategic move: becoming an affiliate member of the Portuguese Online Betting and Gambling Association (APAJO). This milestone marks PokerStars’ robust commitment to maintaining its leadership in regulated markets, a key element of Flutter’s overall growth strategy.
Aligning with Market Leaders in the Portuguese Gambling Scene
As one of the pioneering brands in Portugal’s regulated online gambling market, PokerStars joins an elite group of market leaders within APAJO. The association is the sole trade body representing entities operating under a local license in Portugal. Other notable members include Betano, Betclic, Bwin, Casino Portugal, ESC Online, and Solverde.pt.
APAJO: An Advocate for Responsible Gambling
Since its inception in 2018, APAJO has been a powerhouse on several fronts. It represents its licensed members in talks with regulators, government bodies, and legislators. In addition, APAJO has championed the cause of responsible gambling. It has devised a comprehensive Responsible Gambling Manual, pushing its members to adopt safety measures beyond those mandated by law.
APAJO has also been a proactive participant in shaping the future of online gambling advertising in Portugal. The association is a member of the Portuguese advertisers association and the national advertisement self-regulatory organization. It has recently signed an MoU on Online Advertising, initiated by the European Commission.
