Norwegian Espen Jorstad Wins 2022 WSOP Main Event for $10M

Norwegian Espen Jorstad has today won the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event earning him $10,000,000.

After a dazzling final day performance at Bally’s & Paris, Las Vegas, Jorstad defeated Australian Adrian Attenborough heads-up, who took home $6,000,000, with third place finisher Michael Duek signing off for a payday of $4,000,000.

This year’s field of 8,663 entries was the second largest in the 53-year history of the WSOP with 1300 players finishing in-the-money.

Going into the final day, with just the three left to battle it out for this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event Champion,  Jorstad felt pretty good and had said:

“(Saturday) will be exciting. I’m going to do some preparations, refresh how to be a boss three-handed. Refresh my memory with some chip-leader sims and see what’s going on.”

And Jorstad did some ‘bossing’ out as he became the first Norwegian to win the WSOP Main Event. It had been a good series for the poker-pro who had had already won his first bracelet in Event #55,  teh $1,000 Tag Team, with Patrick Leonard

Speaking to reporters after he first called his mother, the main event champion said it would probably still take him a couple of days before fully comprehending what took place this week:

“She was crying and had trouble speaking. She’s my biggest fan, so it was kind of emotional,” Jorstad said.
