Philippine-listed DigiPlus Interactive Corp confirmed on Wednesday that it has formally submitted three licence applications with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board in South Africa. The filing marks the company’s next step in targeting regulated online gaming markets beyond Asia.
Good to Know
DigiPlus first revealed in July that South Africa was a target for expansion. At the time, the company outlined plans to enter the market through three separate licence applications. The Western Cape regulator oversees activity in the province and has built a reputation as the entry point for international online operators.
According to DigiPlus, South Africa stands out as one of the most promising regulated markets for digital betting and gaming. The company highlighted that compliance with WCGRB rules offers a transparent path for building a sustainable presence.
Chairman Eusebio Tanco shared his perspective on the development:
“The filing of our online gaming licence [application] in South Africa marks another milestone in DigiPlus’ global growth journey, as we bring our proven track record of innovation, responsible gaming, and player protection, together with our strength in localising games for diverse markets, to one of Africa’s most dynamic economies.”
Earlier this week, DigiPlus rolled out GamePlus in Brazil, its first international brand. Brazil and South Africa now represent parallel moves in building a profile across emerging markets. The firm described these launches as central to its goal of becoming a global entertainment provider focused on fast-growing economies.
DigiPlus remains one of the most active operators in the Philippines. The company manages BingoPlus, the first government-approved online bingo platform, ArenaPlus, a sportsbook product, and GameZone, which offers casual and arcade titles.
The firm disclosed in a letter to the Philippine Stock Exchange last week that it continues to study potential acquisitions, although no final agreements are in place. That statement followed speculation in Bilyonaryo regarding a possible bid for City of Dreams Manila, which DigiPlus has not confirmed.
