Rank Group Pours £15 Million Into Revamping Grosvenor’s Flagship London Casino

Grosvenor Casino’s iconic “The Vic” is back in full swing after a major revamp, bringing a fresh look and expanded offerings to its West London home.

Good to know

  • The venue now has twice as many gaming machines, going from 40 to 80.
  • Sports betting is available for the first time at The Vic.
  • The changes follow UK gambling regulation updates that took effect in July 2025.

The Victoria has long been one of the UK’s most famous casino names, but Rank Group has now taken it to another level. Backed by a £15 million ($20.15 million) investment, the refurbishment covered two casino floors, the poker room, and an upgraded gaming terrace. The temporary closures during the works were worth it, with guests now walking into a completely reimagined space that blends tradition with a modern gaming atmosphere.

Mark Harper, Managing Director at Grosvenor Casinos, said:

“This £15m renovation marks our boldest investment ever in a single site and is a statement of intent to modernise Grosvenor’s presence in London and across other casinos in England and Wales in line with the opportunities provided to us by the new legislation.”

He added that the project wasn’t just about refreshing the decor but about “reimagining what a flagship venue can be” while keeping the heritage of one of the most respected casino brands intact.

The timing is no coincidence. In July, the UK’s updated gambling laws kicked in, bringing big changes for land-based casinos. The new rules relaxed the 2:1 ratio between tables and gaming machines and allowed debit card payments directly into machines. These updates give casinos a better shot at competing with online gaming by offering more variety and convenience under one roof.

For The Vic, that meant the ability to double its gaming machine count and finally offer on-site sports betting. The changes also apply across Grosvenor’s properties in England and Wales, opening the door to a wider rollout of betting services.

Back in May, Rank Group confirmed it would take full advantage of the reforms by installing 882 additional gaming machines across its UK Grosvenor sites, taking the total to 2,249. The company has also signaled it’s looking at opportunities in Scotland under the new framework.

Rank Group’s financial update for the 2024/25 year will arrive on 14 August, offering a clearer picture of how these investments and regulatory changes might shape its growth.

For now, The Vic’s transformation is both a nod to its storied past and a signal that the UK’s casino scene is shifting to match the pace and style of modern gaming.
