YouTube creator LeftlanePapi has landed in trouble with Dutch authorities over illegal gambling promotion. After repeated warnings, the Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) has decided enough is enough and handed out a penalty payment order tied to further violations.
Good to know
The KSA flagged LeftlanePapi’s channel after it published multiple videos showing illegal online gambling sessions. These streams not only featured unlicensed providers but also encouraged viewers to take part. When the content stayed up despite an official warning, the gambling authority responded by putting a penalty system in place.
Now, if the influencer posts new gambling-related promotions or fails to take down existing content, a €25,000 fine will apply each time, with a total possible penalty capped at €75,000.
LeftlanePapi was one of several influencers who received direct warnings under the KSA’s updated enforcement strategy. The new two-step process gives content creators 48 hours to comply once a violation is found. If the content stays up, the KSA moves to inform the social media platform—such as YouTube—so it can be removed regardless of the influencer’s action.
The aim is to reduce exposure to unregulated gambling, especially among young viewers who often follow influencers closely. While penalties like these are intended to stop repeat behavior, the KSA also wants to make clear that promotional content linked to illegal gambling is not something it will overlook.
The regulator has stated it will continue warning influencers and issuing penalties if violations keep happening. The focus remains on both protecting consumers and holding content creators accountable for what they share online.
