The Tulalip Resort Casino just got a whole lot bigger. After years of planning and months of construction, the Tulalip Tribes on Thursday welcomed guests into a fresh new wing that adds more games, more space, and a touch of heritage to their popular destination in Washington.
Good to know
Tribal leaders and invited guests gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony filled with drumming, singing, and celebration. Chair Teri Gobin called the moment exciting and long-awaited, saying, “It’s such a beautiful day that we are here together. I’m so excited about this event. We’ve been working on this for a long time.”
The new space brings in 400 additional slot machines and introduces a full-service bar that opens out to a heated and covered patio. Even while new upgrades continue through 2026, the casino and its restaurants will stay open.
Construction kicked off in January 2024, just weeks after the Tulalip Tribes shared their plans to expand in November 2023—part of marking the 20-year anniversary since the original Tulalip Casino opened back in 2003.
One standout feature inside the new section is the design work. Tulalip heritage shines through in the ceiling centerpiece, which includes symbolic references to fish, nets, and moving water. The rest of the casino will be redesigned in a similar style over the next couple of years.
The Tulalip Resort Casino did not always look like this. When it first opened in June 2003, it replaced a smaller venue that later became the Quil Ceda Creek Casino. The launch of a 12-story hotel in 2008 brought about a new name and set the tone for what the casino would grow into.
Gobin noted the economic impact as well. About 3,000 employees work at the Tulalip Resort Casino, and nearby Cedar Village businesses support another 4,500 jobs. Casino revenue also goes toward essential services for the Tulalip community—everything from healthcare and education to government programs.
