Suntrust Moves Manila Westside City Casino Launch to 2026

Suntrust Resort Holdings Inc has officially pushed back the expected opening of its main hotel casino in Manila’s Westside City to the third quarter of 2026. The announcement came in a Thursday filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange, following questions from the exchange about the project’s current status.

Good to know

  • The opening date has shifted from late 2025 to Q3 2026.
  • The resort will include 400 rooms and a casino with 400 tables and 1,200 slots.
  • Delays may impact projected revenue timelines.

Back in November, Suntrust projected that operations at the Entertainment City property would begin by the fourth quarter of 2025. That estimate is now off the table. The company clarified that the opening date is being revised after reviewing construction progress and updated timelines approved by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor).

In the filing, Suntrust confirmed that structural works and the major façade have been completed. Roof-level work is done, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in key plant rooms are largely in place. Some of these systems have already entered the testing and commissioning phase.

Interior and finishing work underway

Work is now shifting to architectural finishing, landscaping, and back-of-house inspections. Fit-outs and final detailing are in progress, with defect checks also underway in non-public areas.

While much of the core infrastructure is in place, the delay means that the company is bracing for a longer wait before revenue starts flowing.

Control ties and leadership changes

Suntrust is indirectly controlled by LET Group Holdings Ltd, a Hong Kong-listed firm chaired by Andrew Lo Kai Bong. Lo also serves as Suntrust’s president following the recent retirement of David Chua Ming Huat in June. LET Group has faced financial stress in recent years, including issues tied to its other gaming investments.

The Westside City project, with a reported price tag of $1.25 billion, is expected to become one of the key additions to Manila’s growing Entertainment City district, which already includes resorts like Okada Manila, City of Dreams Manila, and Solaire.
