PENN Entertainment and Caesars Entertainment have released their latest corporate social responsibility reports, outlining how both companies contributed to local communities, improved sustainability, and maintained responsible gaming programs in 2024. The updates showcase the work done by both companies to support employees, reduce environmental impact, and give back through volunteerism and donations.
Good to know
Two major names in the U.S. casino and gaming industry—PENN Entertainment and Caesars Entertainment—have each published corporate responsibility reports covering 2024. Both highlight a year of initiatives focused on employees, environmental goals, and community impact.
PENN Entertainment shared that it distributed nearly $9 million through donations across its corporate office, casino properties, and interactive operations in Canada and Gibraltar. Many of those funds supported veteran-related causes and local charities. The company also awarded $4.2 million in scholarships to children of team members since the start of its PENN Scholarship Fund. In 2024, 44 students graduated through the program.
Over 11,000 hours of volunteer time were logged by PENN team members. In the report, the company said 58% of scholarship recipients are first-generation college students, and 61% are female.
Jay Snowden, CEO and President of PENN, credited internal committees and team leadership for driving these programs forward. “Providing support to causes that are most important to our team members, customers, and key stakeholders is core to who we are, and I’m incredibly proud of all the work being done across PENN to carry forth these initiatives,” Snowden said.
The company also announced a 25% greenhouse gas reduction goal (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2030 and improved transparency by submitting climate-related data to three major sustainability reporting frameworks.
Caesars Entertainment structured its report under its “PEOPLE PLANET PLAY” strategy and detailed work done in each area.
On the PEOPLE front, Caesars donated more than $3.4 million through its foundation and tallied $72 million in total community investment, which includes nearly 93,000 volunteer hours logged by team members. A new program, the Extraordinary HERO Award, was introduced to recognize employees who show exceptional dedication to service.
Under PLANET, Caesars reported progress on climate targets. The company reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 20% from a 2019 baseline and lowered Scope 3 emissions by 16% since 2022. It also joined the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge and Better Buildings Challenge to help reach climate goals and improve energy efficiency.
As part of PLAY, Caesars marked the 35th year of its Responsible Gaming program. The company originally launched Project 21 in 1989 and has continued to focus on problem gambling prevention and education. In 2024, Caesars also completed several property updates, including three new destinations: Harrah’s Columbus in Nebraska, Caesars Virginia in Danville, and the rebranding of Harrah’s to Caesars New Orleans. Expansions were completed at Harrah’s Hoosier Park and Paris Las Vegas as well.
Kiersten Flint, Caesars SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility, noted that 2024 capped off years of effort. “We’re proud of the work we did in 2024 and are carrying that momentum forward in 2025,” Flint said.
The company was also recognized among The Civic 50 as one of the country’s most community-minded businesses.
