Scott Stewart added a massive milestone to his poker career by winning the 2024 World Poker Tour World Championship. The 36-year-old professional poker player from Long Beach, California, bested a competitive field of 2,392 entries at Wynn Las Vegas to claim his 19th title and an impressive $2,563,900 payday.
This $10,400 buy-in event spanned December 14-21 and attracted a mix of seasoned pros and rising stars, culminating in a $23,441,600 prize pool. The tournament’s payout structure ensured that the top 299 players walked away with a share, with Stewart claiming the lion’s share.
For Stewart, this win marks the biggest financial achievement of his career, surpassing his previous high of $535,000 earned from finishing 13th in the 2017 World Series of Poker main event. His lifetime earnings now exceed $5.6 million, underscoring his consistency and skill in high-stakes poker.
Stewart had plenty of support during his journey to the top. A lively group of friends cheered him on as he advanced through the final stages of the event. After clinching the win, Stewart expressed his gratitude and excitement for the celebrations ahead.
“No plans for the money, but plans to have some fun and I can’t be more excited,” Stewart told WPT reporters. “I got the best friends in the world… A lot of friends came out. Shout out to you guys. You’re the best. We like to have fun, anything we do. We had a little bit of extra fun today and it was worth it.”
The final table featured a mix of prominent players and fierce competitors. Chris Moorman, a renowned figure in the poker world, finished in fourth place. Other notable deep runs included high-stakes regular Mikita Badziakouski (19th), five-time bracelet winner Brian Yoon (11th), and three-time bracelet winner Paul Volpe (28th).
Stewart’s achievement adds to an already impressive resume that includes 18 prior tournament victories and six World Series of Poker Circuit gold rings. While he’s no stranger to winning, this latest accomplishment firmly places him among poker’s elite.
