Ohio’s gaming industry experienced significant growth in September, with casinos and lottery systems bringing in impressive revenue. According to the Ohio Control Commission, total casino revenue for the month hit $81.6 million, marking an increase of nearly $3 million compared to the same period last year.
Casino Revenue Breakdown
Slot games were the largest contributors, bringing in almost $59 million of the total casino revenue. Meanwhile, table games added just over $22.6 million to the state’s gaming funds. This growth adds to Ohio’s strong year-to-date performance, which has seen total casino revenue surpass $752.3 million. Of that, $548.6 million came from slot games, while table games generated more than $203.6 million.
Ohio’s gaming industry continues to see steady revenue gains. September’s performance marks another successful month for the state’s regulated casino operations, which are poised to keep boosting the local economy.
Ohio’s lottery system also reported strong results. The state’s video lottery terminals (VLTs) generated over $1.23 billion in credits from players in September. With more than $1.1 billion in winnings handed out, the state’s net win totaled $109.4 million. Distribution of this revenue saw over $72.4 million going to the Racino Commission, $36.6 million to the Ohio Lottery, and the remainder allocated to responsible gaming services and unclaimed credit vouchers.
The sports betting industry in Ohio also produced impressive results. With a total handling of $863 million for September, the state experienced a notable surge of more than $150 million from the previous year. The largest wagers, $842.4 million, were put by online bettors, while $20.6 million were placed at physical venues. Over $105.6 million was made throughout the month by Ohio’s sports betting industry.
The gambling industry in Ohio is still thriving and providing a significant amount of funding for state initiatives as other states authorize sports betting.
