In the summer of 2024, the Gaming Authority conducted a thorough review of three licensed operators, focusing on their compliance with the required technical certificates of certification. Under the Gambling Act, gaming operators must have their systems, including gaming and business systems, evaluated by accredited bodies to ensure they meet regulatory standards. The authority concluded its investigation without any interventions, confirming that all companies involved adhered to current regulations.
Focus on Technical Compliance and Player Protection
The review involved an in-depth examination of the companies’ adherence to the technical requirements, especially concerning player protections like deposit limits and login time restrictions. These checks, as mandated by Chapter 9, Section 13 of SIFS 2022:3, are essential for ensuring the safety and fairness of the gaming environment. During the investigation, no violations were found, further supporting that the operators complied fully with the rules.
According to the regulations outlined in Chapter 2, Section 3 of SIFS 2022:3, companies must renew their control, testing, and certification protocols at least once every twelve months. The license holders must also ensure they meet the technical requirements of the Gambling Act, including maintaining up-to-date certificates from accredited bodies, as specified by the Gambling Inspectorate.
Moving forward, the Swedish Gaming Authority plans to continue monitoring license holders’ compliance with technical regulations. However, the Authority will only request the control, testing, and certification protocols when necessary, eliminating the need for licensees to submit them proactively. Failure to provide these protocols upon request could jeopardize a company’s license.
The 2024 review included Burstit Ltd, LeoEx Ltd, and Paf International plc, all of which successfully met the required standards. These companies demonstrated their commitment to maintaining high levels of compliance and ensuring player safety within their operations.
