Bally’s Set to Demolish Tropicana for New Baseball Stadium

Bally’s has announced its plan to demolish the Tropicana hotel towers, making way for the future Oakland A’s baseball stadium. According to a local KTNV News report, the implosion is set for October 9 at 2 AM and is expected to take several hours.

The Tropicana site will soon become home to the new Oakland A’s baseball stadium, a project in the works for nearly two years. Once complete, the stadium will seat between 30,000 and 35,000 fans and be located on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip.

Bally’s also plans to develop a new casino hotel on the property alongside the stadium. The company describes this new venue as a “world-class entertainment resort destination.” The Tropicana first opened its doors in 1957 and has been an iconic presence in Las Vegas ever since. Reflecting on its history, Bally’s highlighted the Tropicana’s legacy, stating, “From its Rat Pack-era heyday and the glamorous Folies Bergère to now the future home of the Athletics and a cutting-edge entertainment complex by Bally’s Corporation, the Tropicana’s history reflects the spirit of reinvention and excitement that defines Las Vegas.”

The implosion will be restricted to authorized personnel only due to safety concerns. However, the public can still watch the demolition live on local television or through various online and social media platforms.

The new stadium is a big step for the Oakland A’s, who have been considering a move to Las Vegas for almost two years. The upcoming casino hotel and entertainment venue by Bally’s will further transform this iconic area, continuing the long tradition of reinvention on the Las Vegas Strip.
