Chance Kornuth has joined an elite group of poker players by winning his fourth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet. The 38-year-old took the win in Event #85: $1,000 FLIP & GO No-Limit Hold’em, defeating a field of 1,088 participants to claim the $155,446 top prize.
This win places Kornuth among only 73 players in poker history to have secured four or more WSOP titles. His career earnings now approach $19.3 million.
The Flip & Go format, initially hosted online by GGPoker, was introduced to the WSOP live events in 2021. The tournament starts with an all-in blind flip at each table. Players are dealt three cards in a pineapple hand, discarding one after the flop, with the rest of the board dealt out to determine the winner. Those who win the flip advance to a fast-paced no-limit hold’em tournament.
Out of the 1,088 entrants, 136 advanced to day 2, securing at least a $2,200 min-cash. Notable deep runners included Shannon Shorr (25th), Brad Owen (21st), Danny Wong (18th), Shaun Deeb (14th), Georgios Sotiropoulos (11th), and Mike Leah (3rd).
“I’ve made a pile of final tables without a ‘W’. So even though it’s a smaller one, it feels incredible,” Kornuth shared after his win.
Kornuth also reflected on the unique format, saying, “I think it’s fun, but a little bit gimmicky at the same time.”
