The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event has set a new record as the largest poker tournament in history, with 10,112 entries. This has generated an unprecedented prize pool of $94,041,600. The champion will walk away with $10,000,000 and the prestigious gold bracelet.
The $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event surpassed the previous record of 10,043 entries set in 2023. Before that, the highest attendance was 8,773 in 2006. The tournament, held at Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas, attracted a staggering number of players, resulting in the richest prize pool in poker history. The top 1,517 finishers will receive payouts, with the minimum cash prize set at $15,000.
Jack Binion unveiled the 2024 WSOP championship bracelet at the start of Day 2D. This year marks the sixth time a WSOP main event champion will earn an eight-figure payday, joining the ranks of previous champions like Daniel Weinman (2023, $12,100,000) and Jamie Gold (2006, $12,000,000).
The top nine finishers will all receive at least $1 million. The runner-up will take home $6 million, while the third-place finisher will earn $4 million. To secure a $100,000 payout, players need to be among the last 125 contenders.
Late registration was open until the start of level 8 on Day 2D, adding 618 entries on the final day. There were 9,494 entries across Days 1A through 1D and Day 2ABC, with late registration available until the third level of Day 2ABC. Day 1D saw a record 5,014 entries, surpassing the previous high of 4,879 on Day 1C in 2019.
