After five days of intense play, Maksim Pisarenko from Russia won the 2024 World Series of Poker $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. championship. Pisarenko topped a field of 181 entries, earning his first gold bracelet and a top prize of $399,988.
This victory is Pisarenko’s biggest career win, surpassing his previous best of $189,840 from a third-place finish at the 2019 European Poker Tour Sochi festival. With this achievement, his total tournament earnings now exceed $1.2 million.
This year has been successful for Pisarenko, with two titles and six final-table finishes. Earlier, he won a $5,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event at the PokerGO Tour Mixed Games festival in February.
The event’s prize pool was $1,683,300, awarded to the top 28 finishers. Notable players who made deep runs include four-time bracelet winners Jeff Madsen (21st) and Brad Ruben (18th), bracelet winners Dario Alioto (16th) and Nacho Barbero (14th), two-time bracelet winner Brandon Shack-Harris (12th), Maria Ho (6th), and Mike Leah (2nd).
After his win, Pisarenko shared, “It feels surreal. I have no adrenaline. Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel something. It’s unbelievable.”
Reflecting on his journey, Pisarenko added, “I was getting upset with busting. My friends started calling me Mr. Min-cash. This one is very important. I just wanted to f***ing win first place.”
