TJ Murphy Wins First WSOP Bracelet in $800 Deepstack Event

TJ Murphy has won Event #17: $800 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), finishing ahead of 4,732 other players. Murphy, from Spencer, Iowa, earned $368,977 and his first WSOP gold bracelet by defeating Raymond Mancini in the final heads-up match.

Murphy had not previously cashed in any bracelet event. Despite this, he showed exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament.

The event included many experienced players such as James Calderaro (63rd), James Gilbert (51st), James Anderson (49th), Sean Yu (50th), Satoshi Tanaka (18th), and Harry Lodge (9th). Murphy led the final nine players with the most chips and eliminated six opponents at the final table to secure his win.

After his victory, Murphy described his feelings as “ridiculous, euphoric, on top of the world.”

Murphy is considering more WSOP events this summer. “I’d like to maybe come out again, but we’ll see how things work out. I was looking at maybe doing a second trip. I can afford the main (event) now, so I might do that. I’m playing well and running well, obviously, so it would be a shame for it to go to waste,” he said.
