As its first stop of 2024, Taipei Taiwan, is about to get underway in just a week’s time, the Asian Poker Tour, in partnership with Natural8, announced its next major event of the year, APT Jeju 2024. This exciting poker festival is set to occur at the lavish Jeju Shinhwa Resort, spanning from April 26 to May 5.
The APT is renowned for hosting some of the most anticipated poker events in Asia, offering players the chance to compete for substantial prize pools. This year’s Jeju festival is no exception, with a staggering KRW 2 billion (~USD 1.5 million) prize pool guarantee for the Main Event alone. Over ten days, participants will vie for a share of more than KRW 5 billion (~USD 3.76 million) in guaranteed prize money, setting a new benchmark for poker tournaments in the region.
Reflecting on the success of previous tournaments, APT CEO Fred Leung shared, “Last year, we saw exponential growth with record player participation and prize money. In order to meet those increasing needs, we have been on an endless search for like-minded partners who have the same high standards, while also being able to accommodate the sheer size of our present-day poker festivals.” His enthusiasm for the upcoming event is palpable, especially with the collaboration with Landing Entertainment Korea (LEK) to bring this event to life at the Landing Hotel & Casino within the Jeju Shinhwa Resort.
Jenny Lim, COO of Landing Entertainment Korea, expressed her excitement about hosting the event on Jeju Island, stating, “We’re pleased to announce that Jeju Island will host the inaugural Asian Poker Tour. This milestone event signifies a significant moment for poker enthusiasts in this vibrant city.”
The festival’s schedule is packed with high-stakes action and diverse tournaments. Highlights include the APT National Cup with a KRW 200 million (~USD 150,000) guarantee, the Mystery Bounty event sponsored by Natural8 offering a KRW 300 million (~USD 225,000) guarantee, and the prestigious APT Super High Roller event, promising a KRW 500 million (~USD 375,000) guarantee. The Main Event, with its impressive KRW 2 billion (~USD 1.5 million) prize pool, is the crown jewel of the festival. Additional attractions include the Sunday Super Stack, the Zodiac Classic, and the Double Stack events, each offering significant guarantees and the chance for players to earn glory and substantial winnings.
APT Jeju 2024 is not just about the high rollers; it caters to a wide range of players with events like the Mini Main Event and the Micro Main Event, ensuring that everyone has a chance to compete. The festival will also feature a variety of poker formats, including pot-limit Omaha and No Limit Hold’em, to keep the action fresh and engaging for all participants.
