Hamid Izadi has won his seventh World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) gold ring at Harrah’s Pompano Beach, along with a decent first prize of $245,225, after outlasting a field of 917 competitors. The Georgia resident is a familiar face in the WSOPC, accumulating over $800,000 in earnings from the tour before this event.
Reflecting on his win, Izadi expressed, “I have six rings, but this is another level for me. It’s not easy to win, you have to go through a lot of good players, but today was my day. The cards went my way, I played my best, I believe, and I got the result I wanted.” This triumph is Izadi’s largest tournament score to date, pushing his total career earnings beyond $1.6 million.
The event’s turnout exceeded expectations, with the prize pool surpassing the $1 million guarantee by nearly $390,000. A total of 102 players received payouts, with the top 21 securing at least five-figure sums.
The final heads-up contest saw Izadi facing off against Kasabov, initially holding a slight lead. Despite a challenging match that saw Izadi trailing significantly at one point, he managed to turn the tables in the decisive hand of the tournament. Kasabov’s all-in with Ace Six of Diamonds was met by Izadi’s Ace Queen off Suit. Izadi was way ahead and the board did not help his opponent, ensuring Izadi’s victory. Kasabov took home $151,561 as the second-place finisher.
