The VSE Support Programme, a vital program to help gamers with gambling issues, was launched in New York. Through the voluntary self-exclusion offered by this program, gamers can successfully refrain from engaging in any legal gambling activity inside the state, including internet gaming and gambling at businesses with a license.
The New York Council on Problem Gambling (NYCPG) is able to offer more support because of the VSE Support Programme. Staff members at NYCPG may assist gamers with the self-exclusion procedure, help them fill out the required paperwork, and put them in touch with problem gambling treatment centers. Access to peer support, counseling, and recovery therapies are all included in the entire support package.
The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) and the New York State Gaming Commission provide support to the NYCPG, which is run under the New York State Responsible Play Partnership (RPP).
NYCPG’s executive director, James Maney, highlights the program’s dedication to helping the underprivileged. “By tearing down barriers, the launch of this new program exemplifies that care and concern,” he says. The advent of online notary services streamlines the self-exclusion procedure and allows people to communicate with staff members who are competent from a distance.
The OASAS commissioner, Dr. Chinazo Cunningham, emphasizes how the program uses recovery services, harm reduction, therapy, and prevention to combat problem gambling. In addition to assisting with the self-exclusion procedure, the VSE Support Programme gives access to community support programs for problem gambling in the area.
Robert Williams, the executive director of the New York State Gaming Commission, underscores the commission’s commitment to responsible operations. He states, “The NYCPG VSE Support Programme provides those individuals with the knowledge and resources to make the best decisions for their welfare.”
The effort is in line with the more general objectives of encouraging responsible gaming and making sure that establishments that hold licenses conduct themselves with consideration and accountability for the welfare of those who might require help.
