New Jersey has announced its financial results for July 2023, recording a total gaming revenue of $506.2 million, which is a five percent increase on the amount for the same month in 2022.
Not only did the figure mark an increase in the last 12 months, but in fact, it was the largest number the Garden State has recorded for July in over a decade.
The year-to-date gaming revenue totaled a whopping $3.23 billion, which is an impressive annual increase of 11 percent compared to the $2.91 billion recorded last year.
July Revenue Breakdown for New Jersey
NJ online casinos that are listed by NJ.bet site bring the most to the table. Of the $506.2 million revenue recorded by New Jersey, casino wins totaled $290 million, while sports betting made $61 million and iGaming was $155.2 million.
However, despite the increase, the overall casino total of $290 million actually saw a three percent drop compared to last July.
New Jersey boasts nine casino hotels and year-to-date casino wins for the state were $1.65 billion, which saw growth of two percent.
Slot machine win for July 2023 was $217.8 million meaning slots were one percent up year-on-year. However, table games saw a 13 percent decrease with table game wins at only $72.2 million.
Sports Betting on the Up in Garden State
Sports betting gross revenue saw a 36 percent increase, with casinos, racetracks and their partners recording revenue of $61 million for July 2023, compared to $45 million in July 2022.
Wagers placed on sports for the year-to-date also saw a massive rise of 42 percent, with gross revenue recorded at $501.8 million.
iGaming has also increased during July, with figures totaling $155.2 million marking an increase of 14 percent. Overall, for the year-to-date period, $1.09bn was made from iGaming, up from $951.2 million and, again, recording a growth of 14 percent.
The Leading Casino in New Jersey During July
The Borgata casino boasted the highest gaming revenue compared with its casino rivals in the state, recording $127.6m of revenue, which is an increase of three percent. It also led the way when it came to iGaming wins, with $43 million and casino wins with $78.6 million, a yearly increase of two percent.
Meadowlands was the racetrack that recorded the highest sports betting revenue with $25.7 million.
Resorts Digital recorded the highest sports betting win with $19 million, up a huge 124% compared to 2022 and also saw the highest percentage increase in total gaming revenue of $59.5 million, a rise of 53 percent year-on-year.
