Yuri Dzivielevski, showing his skills in mixed games, has done it again. He bested 836 competitors to take home $207,678 and his third WSOP bracelet. The tournament in question? Event #47: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. at the 2023 World Series of Poker, held in the grand locales of Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
Dzivielevski, always sporting his best attire and a grin, led the game from the beginning. After Day 1, he was already in seventh place. By the end of Day 2, he had claimed the leading chip position. The final table saw him sweep all the chips into his possession.
He wasn’t alone in his journey, supported by an enthusiastic group of supporters who kept the spirits high with their chants. Dzivielevski later mentioned how much the crowd’s support helped him. He felt an inexplicable energy and a sense of being loved by all.
The final day started with 28 participants. This number dwindled rapidly once the cards were dealt. Prominent eliminations included Gershon Distenfeld, Anson Tsang, and Jeff Shulman. The final table was set when Daniel Makowsky’s two pair succumbed to Dzivielevski’s set.
The final table saw Randy Ohel ejecting Serhii Popovych in the eighth place, scooping a Stud Hi-Lo Eight or Better pot. Dzivielevski then took the stage, removing Denis Nesterenko in seventh place, thanks to a rivered Broadway.
Next in line was Thor William Morstoel, whose journey ended in sixth place against Nghia “3 Putts” Le’s nut flush in Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better. Dzivielevski then claimed two more victims, Stephen Savoy in fifth and Le in third, bringing the tournament down to the last two players.
His final rival was Ohel, who had previously eliminated Frankie O’Dell. The game started with both players nearly tied in terms of stacks. Dzivielevski took an early lead, but Ohel hung on tight, quieting the once boisterous crowd as he climbed back into contention.
However, Dzivielevski pulled ahead again, a lead he wouldn’t let go of. After an intense two and a half hours of heads-up play, Dzievielevski achieved the impossible: turning quad aces in limit hold’em. This move ended Ohel’s courageous run and secured Dzivielevski’s top spot, the prestigious bracelet, and the substantial cash prize.
