DigiPlus Withdraws From New Zealand Online Casino Auction

DigiPlus Interactive Corp has withdrawn from the final rounds of the New Zealand online casino licence auction after reassessing the market and investment value.

Good To Know

  • The auction ended at NZ$15 million, approximately $8.4 million, per licensing right.
  • Eleven entities secured the right to apply for up to 15 licences.
  • DigiPlus said the decision has “no impact” on its existing businesses.

Auction Success Still Requires Regulatory Approval

Successful bidders must now complete regulatory assessments before receiving permission to operate. The Department of Internal Affairs expects the full licensing regime to operate in 2027, with each licence covering one brand.

The auction attracted 32 bidders across 10 rounds between September 29 and October 12. DigiPlus had submitted an expression of interest in August but opted against continuing.

In its October 14 Philippine Stock Exchange filing, the company said:

“After further market analysis and determination of market values, the company has decided to abstain from the final rounds of the New Zealand auction on the right to apply for an online gaming licence.”

The Philippines-listed operator said its international expansion strategy remains unchanged.
