YouTube Masthead Opens To Online Gambling Ads On 21 October 2026

Google will allow more certified online gambling advertisers to use the YouTube Masthead from 21 October 2026. The homepage banner currently accepts sports betting ads.

Certification Does Not Guarantee Masthead Approval

Advertisers must clear a separate Masthead review, which can apply stricter standards than other Google ad formats. A gambling licence and Google certification therefore do not automatically secure the homepage slot.

The change also follows tighter certification requirements introduced on 14 September 2026. Google now requires advertisers across gambling and games categories to demonstrate ‘good policy health’.

For eligible operators, country rules remain central. Advertisers must apply separately for each target country, meet local licensing requirements and display responsible gambling information on landing pages. They cannot target minors.

Meanwhile, Google excludes affiliate and comparison sites that face no mandatory state or national gambling registration. Its policy classifies those businesses as ‘online gambling-promoting content’.

The October update broadens access beyond sports betting, which Google allowed in the Masthead from September 2022. Daily fantasy sports followed in May 2023 for Canada, India and the US.
