Entain Could Leave FTSE 100 After 2026 Share Price Fall

Entain could fall out of the FTSE 100 in September after FTSE Russell placed the betting group on its indicative deletion list.

The index provider currently expects Entain and Persimmon to leave the FTSE 100, with easyJet and Ithaca Energy in line for promotion. Final changes will depend on market values at the close on September 1.

Entain Market Value Puts FTSE Place At Risk

FTSE Russell based its preliminary list on market data from August 21. Under FTSE rules, FTSE 100 companies can face demotion once their ranking falls below the required market capitalisation threshold.

Entain traded around 517p on August 27, with a market value near £3.3 billion.

The share price decline has come during a difficult year for UK listed betting groups. Remote gaming duty increased from 21% to 40% on April 1, putting additional pressure on online gaming margins.

Entain reported 5% constant currency net gaming revenue growth in the first half of 2026, but underlying EBITDA fell 2%, with higher UK gaming taxes weighing on profitability.

FTSE Russell will complete the actual review using September 1 closing data before announcing confirmed changes on September 2.
