Resorts World New York City has added 1,400 slot machines as construction begins on the next stage of a $5.5 billion redevelopment in Queens.

RWNYC Extends Early Lead in New York Casino Race
Resorts World already operates live slots and table games, giving the Genting Group property a major timing advantage over rival New York casino projects.
Hard Rock and Steve Cohen have started early work on Metropolitan Park near Citi Field. Bally’s also plans a Bronx resort at Ferry Point. Both developments target 2030 openings and require full construction from the ground up.
RWNYC completed its conversion from a racino to a commercial casino on April 28. Table game revenue then climbed from about $4.9 million in the first reporting week to more than $10.4 million for the week ending July 12.
Slot revenue stayed near $20 million to $22 million per week. Combined weekly gaming revenue rose from $27.2 million to around $30.8 million, with table games driving most of the increase.
“Since the moment we opened, our slot machines have been incredibly popular with the public, generating more than $230 million in gross gaming revenue in just 11 weeks,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. “With these 1,400 new games, we will be able to accommodate more patrons and generate even more in taxes for the state.”
Casino Expansion Adds Hotel and Arena
The new first-floor casino area includes a Dragon Den with 114 Aristocrat games and 48 Dragon Link machines.
Phase Two construction covers a 400-room hotel tower and a 7,000-seat entertainment venue. The full plan calls for a 350,000-square-foot casino, 6,000 slots, 800 live tables, 2,000 hotel rooms and more than 10 acres of public green space.
RWNYC currently employs about 2,200 people. Management expects the project to add between 500 and 2,700 jobs by the end of summer.
Company forecasts put state and local tax payments at $10.8 billion over the first decade. Genting also committed $2.5 billion for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and a $2 billion community benefits package.
RWNYC said it has contributed more than $5 billion to public education in New York since 2011.
Bally’s bought the Ferry Point site for $157 million in February and recently filed construction permit applications. Metropolitan Park began pre-construction in February, although local reports later described schedule delays. Developers still target a 2030 opening.
