Flutter Plans PokerStars Job Cuts Across Global Hubs, Roughly 100 Affected

Flutter Entertainment plans job cuts at PokerStars as the group combines more poker operations with its wider brand network. Formal consultations have started with around 100 employees, although the final number of affected roles remains unclear.

Flutter Reshapes PokerStars Operations

PokerStars said the proposed cuts form part of a wider transformation programme. Flutter wants to connect the online poker platform more closely with brands including FanDuel, Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Betting and Gaming.

“PokerStars can confirm that it is proposing a number of organizational changes as part of its ongoing transformation program, which includes integrating its online poker offering with Flutter’s leading brands to better serve customers,” a PokerStars spokesperson told NEXT.io.

North America already provides the clearest example. Flutter transferred PokerStars operations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ontario into FanDuel under the PokerStars Exclusively on FanDuel structure in March.

Similar integration elsewhere could remove overlapping technology, marketing and operational roles. PokerStars said it has explored redeployment before cutting positions.

“While we have sought to minimize the impact on colleagues, including through opportunities for redeployment, the proposals will unfortunately result in a number of roles being affected,” the company said.

“We are communicating with those impacted as part of the process and will provide them with the support they need throughout.”

Higher costs also form part of the operating backdrop. The UK increased Remote Gaming Duty from 21 percent to 40 percent on April 1, 2026, adding another expense for major online gambling groups such as Flutter.

Meanwhile, PokerStars faces a busier online poker market, with GGPoker, WPT Global and CoinPoker competing for players. Flutter has not confirmed how many jobs will go or when the restructuring will finish.
