BGaming Starts ART Collab With Yokai Slot Release

BGaming has released Yokai, the first title in its ART Collab series, with Portuguese street artist Gonçalo MAR shaping the look, story and core visual identity of the game.

Instead of building the slot around a standard casino theme first, the studio used Gonçalo MAR art style as the starting point.

Yokai brings players to the edge of an old Japanese forest near Mount Fuji, where a Samurai guards the reels alongside fortune-bearing Yokai spirits. The character reacts during play, slices through the reels and helps trigger the bonus round. Small spirit animations also appear across the board during quieter moments, which gives the game a strong screen presence for streamers.

The art connection goes deeper than the setting. MAR created the design, artwork and story, while BGaming handled the slot build around that concept. The game also includes references to his wider portfolio, including his Turista character, a finger-fish image that inspired the game idea and appears as both a grid symbol and the head of the main character.

ART Collab will continue as a series, with BGaming working with different street artists around the world. Yokai starts that format and gives the studio a clear content hook at a time when online casino suppliers keep searching for stronger identity across new releases.

From Lisbon Art To Casino Reels

The partnership between BGaming and Gonçalo MAR began after the studio saw his work at an exhibition in Lisbon. Since then, the two sides have worked together on several projects. MAR art also appeared at BGaming Charity Gala in aid of DAR Bjorn, where one of his works went to auction.

Yokai now turns that relationship into a playable casino game. For BGaming, it also builds on a wider content strategy that blends slot mechanics with visual branding, streamer-friendly presentation and artist-led themes.

Gameplay still carries the main commercial weight. Yokai includes two types of Wilds, cumulative multipliers and a Free Spins bonus round that gives players a random number of spins each time. The slot also offers two feature purchase options. Buy Chance doubles the chance of triggering the bonus at a higher stake, while Buy Bonus sends players straight into Free Spins.
