PENN Opens $100 Million Hotel At Hollywood Casino Columbus

PENN Entertainment has opened a $100 million hotel tower at Hollywood Casino Columbus, adding 203 rooms to the Ohio casino as the company continues a wider retail casino upgrade plan. Construction took over three years since ground breaking in 2026.

PENN Adds Hotel Rooms To Columbus Casino

Hollywood Casino Columbus now has a hotel attached to its gaming floor, giving PENN a stronger overnight stay product in Ohio. The tower includes The Hill Eatery & Lounge, conference rooms, a fitness center and an outdoor terrace.

The opening also adds more event and group business options for the property. That matters in regional casino markets, where operators often use hotels, dining and meeting space to keep guests on site longer instead of relying only on gaming.

PENN marked the opening with local dignitaries and guests. The event included a procession led by The Ohio State University Alumni Band, a Bret Michaels concert, fireworks and a giveaway for a 2026 Indian Motorcycle.

“We’re delighted to officially open our new hotel in Columbus, which further positions us as the top entertainment destination in the region,” Jay Snowden, Chief Executive Officer and President of PENN Entertainment, said in a statement.

Columbus Opening Fits Wider Retail Plan

The Columbus hotel is the third of four retail development projects PENN has completed within the past year. In 2025, the company opened a new land-based casino in Joliet, Illinois, and a hotel tower at M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas.

Aurora comes next. PENN plans to open Hollywood Casino Aurora in Illinois on June 24, subject to regulatory approvals. That project continues the company plan to replace older riverboat assets with land-based casino resorts.

“This opening marks our third of four retail development projects to open in under a year, and we expect to follow this momentous day with the grand opening of our new casino in Aurora, Illinois, in less than two weeks,” Snowden said.

PENN has one more relocation project in its pipeline as well. The company expects its Council Bluffs, Iowa project to open in 2028, pending regulatory approvals.

At Hollywood Casino Columbus, the next changes are already lined up. PENN expects to add an expanded high-limit table games room and a speakeasy bar during the third quarter of 2026, if regulators approve the plan.
