bet365 Joins Alberta iGaming Market Ahead Of July 13 Start

Alberta has added bet365 to the list of approved operators for the province online gambling launch this July 13, giving the global brand access to its second regulated Canadian market.

Good to Know

  • bet365 appears on the AGLC list under Hillside International Gaming and International Sports.
  • Alberta plans to open regulated online sports betting and iGaming on July 13, 2026.
  • The province now has 31 gaming operators preparing for launch.

bet365 has not issued a formal launch announcement, but the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission added the company to its approved operator list on Monday. The approval covers both online casino and sports betting products under the Hillside International Gaming and International Sports names.

Alberta will become the second open Canadian online gambling market after Ontario. The province has set July 13, 2026, as the start date for regulated private-sector iGaming and sports betting, with operators required to register with AGLC and enter commercial terms with Alberta iGaming Corporation.

Alberta Adds Another Major Brand

The Alberta launch already has a crowded operator list. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Rush Street, Hard Rock Bet and Caesars are among the names preparing to enter, alongside bet365. The province also has approvals for 35 gaming providers and 11 suppliers.

For bet365, Alberta fits into a wider North American buildout. Denise Coates founded the company in England in 2000. The operator entered Ontario in 2022, then moved into the U.S. that same year. It now operates in 17 U.S. markets, with Michigan among its latest additions this April, and it opened a U.S. headquarters in Colorado in September 2024.

The company has posted strong results in some U.S. states where individual operator figures are public. In Ohio, bet365 ranked third by handle and profit during March Madness. Ontario does not release the same full operator-by-operator picture, so its exact position there remains unclear.

Alberta wants to move online gambling away from grey-market activity and into a taxed, supervised system. Government estimates have pointed to a large share of online gambling spend taking place outside the provincial framework, a key reason behind the new competitive model.

The market will also end the Play Alberta only model for legal online gambling in the province. Several online casinos and sportsbooks, such as Draftkings, have already opened preregistration ahead of launch, as operators try to lock in players before July 13.
