S&K Gaming To Open 400 Horses Casino In Polson On May 5

S&K Gaming will open 400 Horses Casino in Polson, Montana, next month, adding a new tribal gaming property with more than 300 machines, a restaurant, and over 75 new jobs.

400 Horses Casino Adds New Tribal Gaming Space In Polson

The new 400 Horses Casino sits on a 79-acre tribal tract, with about 10 acres leased for the project. The land joined the city of Polson in 2023, allowing the casino to connect to municipal water and sewer systems rather than using a well or drain field.

Construction began on April 9, 2025, after final plans gained approval in late 2024. The project had been in development since 2021 under the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes enterprise structure.

Inside, S&K Gaming will offer Class II slot machines and electronic table games. Live table games are not planned at launch. The casino will open with more than 300 gaming machines, with another 100 expected later.

The property also includes 371 Bar and Grill, a 70-seat restaurant with indoor and patio dining overlooking Flathead Lake. Chef Pedro Vera, formerly executive chef at Finley Point Grill, will lead the kitchen. The restaurant will run extended hours alongside the casino.

S&K Gaming designed the new site to solve layout issues at Kwataqnuk Resort & Casino, where gaming areas were added after the hotel was built. The company also used lessons from Gray Wolf Peak Casino to create a more efficient floor plan.

Traffic work around the site remains part of the wider project. S&K Gaming has worked with the Montana Department of Transportation on road realignment and new turn lanes, though some upgrades may finish after opening.

The name 400 Horses came from community input and honors Chief Alexander, a key figure in the formation of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Chief Alexander, also known as No Horses, was said to own about 400 horses late in life.

After the Polson casino opens, S&K Gaming plans renovations at Kwataqnuk Resort, with a focus on making that property more family friendly.
