The membership of the Indian Gaming Association elected Tehassi Hill as Vice Chairman and Michell Hicks as Treasurer during the 2026 Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention in San Diego. Both will serve two year terms.
Good to Know
Hill and Hicks step in at a tense moment for tribal gaming. Hill, now in his third term leading the Oneida Nation, said:
“We must stay focused on the challenges ahead while continuing to share the story of our success.
“It is critical that we stand together and build unity as a strong force for our tribal nations.”
Hicks struck a similar tone after the swearing in. He said: “There are many challenges in front of us, including the expansion of illegal markets that threaten our industry.” He added that meeting those threats will take “strategy, resources, and a unified effort.”
Bean said the election showed strong support across the organization. He said:
“Today’s election reflects the strength of our tribal leadership and the unity of our membership.”
Bean also said the group is strengthening leadership as it faces “illegal prediction market activity and federal overreach.”
The vote came during the final stretch of the 2026 convention, where prediction markets and sovereignty concerns stayed near the top of the agenda.
