Bally’s Corporation will open a new land based casino in Marquette, Iowa on Friday, March 13. The property replaces the former Casino Queen Marquette riverboat after a $26.2 million redevelopment along the Mississippi River.
New facility covers 31,280 square feet and includes more than 400 slot machines and electronic table games. Visitors will also find live dealer blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and a sportsbook.
Good to Know
Construction allowed the riverboat casino to remain open while the new property was built. Once the inland casino opens, the riverboat will close and Bally’s plans to sell the vessel.
“The official transformation to Bally’s Marquette represents a defining moment for our team, guests, and the community,” said Robin Corbeil, General Manager. “With our move ashore complete, Bally’s Marquette delivers a modern gaming experience, expanded dining offerings, and a welcoming atmosphere that honors our riverfront roots while positioning us for the future.”
Ownership changes played a role in the redevelopment. Private equity firm Standard General finalized a $4.6 billion acquisition of Bally’s Corp in 2024. The transaction brought Casino Queen Marquette into the Bally’s portfolio after Standard General previously acquired Queen Casino & Entertainment.
New property introduces several dining and bar venues. The 1994 Sports Bar pays tribute to the original riverboat opening year and features pub style food with multiple television screens for sports viewing.
Sidecar Bar will serve cocktails in a lounge setting, while Riverside Grill offers fast casual American meals. Benchfront Coffee provides specialty coffee drinks for guests throughout the day.
Development created close to 80 new jobs in the region, according to Bally’s. Company said the new facility supports tourism and economic activity in northeast Iowa.
Grand opening celebrations include live music, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and additional entertainment for visitors.
Familiar landmark also remains part of the property. Pinky, a pink elephant statue that has stood near the Mississippi River for years, continues to welcome guests outside the casino.
Casino Queen Marquette produced $19.9 million in gross gaming revenue during 2025, the lowest among the 19 casinos operating in Iowa. Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino generated the highest total with more than $234.7 million.
Statewide casino revenue across Iowa exceeded $1.67 billion last year. Casino Queen Marquette accounted for roughly 1.2 percent of the market.
