UK self-exclusion service Gamstop saw a sharp rise in younger users during the second half of 2025, alongside growing demand for longer-term gambling blocks.
Good to Know
UK national self-exclusion register Gamstop reported a 40% increase in registrations from consumers aged 16 to 24 during the second half of 2025, pointing to rising awareness and use of harm-prevention tools among younger players.
In the six months ending 31 December 2025, Gamstop recorded 58,675 new registrations, averaging 319 per day. Users aged 16–24 accounted for 29% of all new sign-ups over the period.
By year end, total registrations reached about 562,000 players. New users could choose self-exclusion periods of six months, one year, or five years. Among the 16–24 age group, the six-month option proved most popular, selected by 38%. Across the full user base, the five-year exclusion led with 47%.
December also marked one year since Gamstop launched its five-year exclusion with auto-renewal, designed to act as a long-term or ongoing block unless a user actively opts out. Uptake continued to climb throughout 2025.
Gamstop said that in December, more than half of users selecting a minimum five-year exclusion chose the auto-renewal option, the first time adoption passed the 50% mark.
In a statement, Fiona Palmer, CEO of Gamstop Group, said:
“The continued year-on-year growth in registrations highlights the ongoing and increasing need for effective self-exclusion tools. The rise in take-up of our auto-renewal option shows that many consumers are seeking longer-term support and recognise the value of self-exclusion in helping them manage their gambling.”
Registrations from ages 16–24 increased by 40% in the second half of 2025.
