First phase now open in Clark

Hann Philippines Inc. opened the first floor of The Canyon, a new casino extension at Hann Casino Resort in the Clark Freeport Zone. The opening marks the first completed phase of an expansion first announced in November 2024 and follows the property rebrand from Widus Hotel and Casino in December 2021.

The new gaming floor opened to the public on Friday, 12 December. A second level is scheduled for next year. The design centers on an atrium layout inspired by rock formations and greenery, giving the expanded floor an open feel during busy periods.

More space for peak demand

The first floor can host up to 446 guests and includes 584 slot machines alongside 34 table games. Hann Casino Resort already runs around 200 tables and more than 1,000 slots across the existing casino, making The Canyon a meaningful capacity upgrade.

Clark continues to see higher visitor volumes, especially on weekends and holidays, which drove the need for additional gaming space.

New dining inside the casino floor

The Canyon also introduces food and beverage options built directly into the gaming area. The Canyon Café and Winery seats 52 guests, while Three Woks offers Korean, Chinese, and Japanese dishes for up to 148 diners.

Aristocrat Gaming will supply more than 270 machines to the expansion, including new titles developed for the Philippines market.

A larger vision takes shape

Industry data previously reported by Inside Asian Gaming shows that once The Canyon fully opens, total slot inventory at Hann Casino Resort could rise by about 50 percent, while mass market table capacity could increase by roughly 40 percent.

Dennis Andreaci, Senior Vice President of Casino Operations, said earlier in the year:

“The idea was to create a larger, more dynamic main gaming floor. While there will be an exclusive, elegantly designed VIP area upstairs for a select clientele, the highlight is the expansive main floor. It’s a spacious, thoughtfully designed area featuring new concepts and a fresh aesthetic.”

Andreaci also said congestion during peak periods pushed the expansion forward. He said:

“When you look around the casino during peak periods, weekends and holidays, you can see that the gaming floor is very busy and the market is growing. We want to ensure that there is additional capacity for both table games and slot machines.”

Funding and timeline

The Canyon forms part of a wider expansion adding more than 22,000 square metres to the resort, including over 5,000 square metres of gaming space across two floors. Financing includes a PHP 6 billion loan agreement signed in November 2024 with Asia United Bank Corporation and Union Bank of the Philippines.
