Las Vegas police are investigating an armed robbery at Rampart Casino after a man dressed as a security guard entered the property with an AR-style rifle and demanded cash late Thursday night. The incident has prompted a region-wide search for the suspect.
Good to Know
The incident occurred at 10:29 p.m., according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Investigators said the man entered the Summerlin property through the parking garage and walked directly to the cashier cage.
Police said he showed the AR-style rifle and demanded money from an employee. The cashier complied, and the suspect left the casino the same way he entered. His race remains unknown.
Detectives described his clothing as a ballistic helmet, blue sunglasses, a black facemask, and a blue and yellow security jacket — a disguise intended to resemble casino security.
Las Vegas police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be shared by calling 702-828-3591 or emailing robbery@lvmpd.com. Anonymous reports can be made through Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or on its website.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and encourages anyone who might have seen suspicious activity near the Rampart Casino parking garage around the time of the robbery to contact them.
Casino and poker-room crime continues to be a concern nationwide. Earlier this year, reports from Houston detailed a series of robberies targeting poker players after they left local poker clubs. Surveillance video from a hotel captured one of the incidents.
In another case from May, federal authorities arrested two men connected to a crew accused of following winning gamblers from casinos and robbing them on nearby highways. Investigators said the suspects visited multiple properties to scout potential victims before carrying out the attacks.
The robbery took place at Rampart Casino in Summerlin.
He wore a ballistic helmet, blue sunglasses, a black facemask, and a blue and yellow security jacket.
Police have not reported any injuries.
