Multiple lawsuits have already been filed, aiming to form a class action that could bring in thousands of employees, former staff, and customers.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><em><strong>Good to Know<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>Five lawsuits have been filed so far, with most arriving in court on September 30.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>The breach allegedly happened between September 5 and 7.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Boyd Gaming operates 14 casinos in Las Vegas, where two plaintiffs are based.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p>The first case came on September 25, when ex-employee Scott Levy submitted his claim just days after Boyd Gaming <a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/casino-news\/boyd-gaming-reports-cybersecurity-incident-casino-operations-unaffected\/\">reported the breach<\/a> to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). By September 30, four more lawsuits followed in US District Court, broadening the potential scope of the litigation.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuits represent plaintiffs from several states, including Nevada, Ohio, Texas, and Louisiana. Two of the claimants, including Levy, are based in Las Vegas, home to 14 Boyd Gaming casino properties.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key allegations is that Boyd Gaming delayed disclosure. Court filings argue that the company may have known about the intrusion earlier than it reported. At that same time, the operator reported the incident to the SEC and alerted regulators as required under federal law.
