Its timeline for review has not been set, but it now carries the weight of being the only Manhattan casino proposal left in New York\u2019s highly competitive licensing race.<\/p>\n<p>Last-minute amendments to Avenir\u2019s housing and community benefits were submitted but didn\u2019t appear on the New York State Gaming Commission website until after the hearing closed. Adams\u2019 other representative, Laura Smith, repeated Malik\u2019s statement almost word-for-word at the Caesars session. Meanwhile, veteran policymaker Richard Gottfried\u2014who opposed both bids\u2014nonetheless praised the overall process as being<em> \u201cas open and involved and fair\u201d<\/em> as he had seen in decades of government.<\/p>\n<p>Silverstein has yet to issue an official comment on the defeat.
