The legislation was introduced on August 20, cleared both houses of Parliament, and signed by the President within two days, leaving operators with no opportunity to adjust.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong><em>Good to know<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Flutter shut down its Junglee brand on August 22 in full compliance with the law.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>The company had projected $200 million in revenue and $50 million EBITDA from India in 2025.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Dream11 and My11Circle have also stopped real-money games, disrupting major cricket sponsorships.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p>The speed of the bill\u2019s passage forced Flutter to halt Junglee\u2019s operations with immediate effect. The company estimated that the suspension will reduce its 2025 results by about $100 million in revenue and $25 million in adjusted EBITDA.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Peter Jackson expressed frustration at the process:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am extremely disappointed with the sudden changes to the regulatory landscape in India. Over the last four years Junglee has invested significantly in its local market, building a workforce of over 1,100 employees to deliver innovative skill-based gaming products to Indian customers. Jackson added that the ban could drive players to unregulated operators that provide no tax revenue or consumer protection: <em>\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We believe in regulatory frameworks that put customers first, and are evaluating options to restore skill-based games in the Indian market.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Wider Industry Disruption<\/h2>\n<p>The fallout has been immediate across India\u2019s gaming and sports landscape. Dream11, which had a $44 million sponsorship deal with the BCCI, has pulled its support for national cricket teams. Alongside rival My11Circle, Dream11 has contributed about $125 million to Indian cricket through national and IPL partnerships. The loss of these deals forces the BCCI to seek replacement sponsors at short notice, adding pressure to the sport\u2019s commercial model.<\/p>\n<p>Flutter emphasized its continued interest in India, citing its past focus on consumer protections and regulated growth.
