The process was initially set to conclude by 17 September, after which approved operators would have six months to launch.<\/p>\n<p>The agency has not clarified whether the delay will affect existing licensees\u2019 operations. Under previous guidance, current licence-holders can continue to offer gambling in Italy until March 2026, at which point only newly licensed operators will be able to operate.<\/p>\n<p>ADM closed its tender for remote gambling concessions on 30 May, with <a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/casino-news\/adm-approves-46-operators-as-italy-reworks-licensing\/\">46 applications<\/a> securing initial approval. This steep cost has caused pushback, as the fee in the last licensing round was just \u20ac200,000.<\/p>\n<p>Stricter Rules for Italy\u2019s Online Gambling Market<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s revamped licensing framework introduces several major changes.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The tax rate is now set at 24.5% of GGR for online sports betting and 25.5% for online casino operators.<\/li>\n<li>Licensees must pay an additional 3% of GGR annually.<\/li>\n<li>Operators are required to allocate 0.2% of GGR (up to \u20ac1 million) towards responsible gambling initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Player protection requirements have also tightened.
