These changes are expected to roll out in 2026, and the process is already underway.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><em><strong>Good to know<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>EGBA last updated its AML guidelines in March 2023.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>New EU regulations now include crypto rules and a new AML authority.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>EGBA will base part of its 2026 update on member feedback.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p>The EU\u2019s latest AML and counter-terrorism financing framework, introduced in June 2023, includes the creation of a central Anti-Money Laundering Authority and tighter controls on crypto use. Transparency rules have also been reinforced. With these updates, EGBA said its own internal guidance needs to align with the new legal environment.<\/p>\n<p>EGBA confirmed that it will begin drafting new guidelines in collaboration with its members. The goal is to align its risk-based approach with both the EU\u2019s expectations and global standards from the Financial Action Task Force.<\/p>\n<p>Part of the new content will be based on insights gathered during EGBA\u2019s second annual AML monitoring process.
