That figure marked a 31% jump year-over-year. The final quarter, covering January to March 2025, played a big role in driving the yearly numbers higher. During those three months, Ontarians wagered CA$22.9 billion, a slight increase from CA$22.7 billion in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<h2>Casino Dominates the Market<\/h2>\n<p>Casino gaming stood out once again as the strongest category. Over the year, casinos generated CA$2.4 billion in GGR from a total of CA$69.6 billion wagered. Betting followed with CA$724 million in GGR from CA$11.4 billion in wagers. Peer-to-peer poker, while a smaller slice of the market, still contributed CA$66 million in GGR from CA$1.7 billion wagered.<\/p>\n<p>Growth happened across every vertical. Wagers placed on casino games rose by 34% compared to the previous year, betting wagers increased by 17%, and poker wagers nudged higher by 2%. Revenue gains followed a similar pattern, with casino revenue rising by 36% and betting revenue growing by 23%. The numbers reflect a steady rise in player activity and operator engagement.<\/p>\n<p>With Alberta working on its own online gambling regulations after new legislation passed last month, Ontario\u2019s model could soon have competition within Canada. However, Ontario continues to set the pace, especially in responsible gaming.
