House Bill 6051, filed by State Representative Christopher Rosario, would permit travelers traveling to and from Connecticut to wager while in flight.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"376\" data-end=\"728\">The proposal coincides with Delta Airlines\u2019 partnership with DraftKings to explore in-flight betting options. Rosario sees the bill as an opportunity to boost state revenue.<em> \u201cBetting has become big business in the state of Connecticut, and if this takes off, literally, no pun intended, let\u2019s be there to capture some of that revenue,\u201d<\/em> he told FOX61.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"765\"><strong data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"763\">Record Revenue and Opposition<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"767\" data-end=\"1073\">Connecticut\u2019s sports betting market has been thriving. In November 2024 alone, the state generated $30.3 million in revenue, according to the Department of Consumer Protection. Under Rosario\u2019s proposal, 1% of in-flight betting revenue would fund public education, benefiting both urban and rural schools.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1075\" data-end=\"1348\">Despite its financial potential, the bill faces opposition. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal warns of risks associated with gambling in confined spaces. <em>\u201cIt is a recipe for disaster, and that\u2019s why it is banned now.
