However, he argued that the land-based sector remains stagnant due to Holland Casino\u2019s dominance. In response, Struycken acknowledged the outdated nature of current laws, which stem from a 2011 policy framework. He confirmed that by March 2025, he will present a detailed vision addressing the future of gambling policy, including measures to introduce competition in the land-based sector.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Holland Casino\u2019s Ownership and Tax Challenges<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Van Nispen also raised concerns about the state\u2019s ownership of Holland Casino. While a 2022 evaluation concluded state ownership is \u201cnot necessary,\u201d Struycken emphasized the financial implications of relinquishing control. He explained that state ownership helps mitigate <a href=\"https:\/\/igaming.org\/casino-news\/dutch-gambling-bodies-launch-system-to-combat-illegal-online-gambling\/\">gambling-related harm<\/a> and ensures a steady income stream. However, he did not dismiss exploring alternative ownership structures.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe evaluation also established that the added value of shareholding is not weighty enough that further exploration of other future options would be ruled out in advance,\u201d<\/em> Struycken stated.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the proposed gambling tax hike has sparked concerns. A recent report warned the increase could force Holland Casino to shut down some branches or discontinue its online services.
