The region\u2019s revenue reached MOP 18.4 billion in November 2024, according to Macau\u2019s excellent financial figures. In comparison to the same month last year, this represents a noteworthy 14.9% increase, maintaining the upward trajectory observed throughout 2024.<\/p>\n

Macau\u2019s total gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2024 has already surpassed the figures from the previous year thanks to November\u2019s impressive performance. As of right now, the total revenue is MOP 209 billion, up 26.8% from the same time in 2023. With December still to be added to the total for 2024, this shows that Macau has already surpassed its revenue for fiscal year 2023.<\/p>\n

While the year-on-year growth remains robust, the rate of acceleration has slowed slightly. Early months like January and February saw significant increases of 67% and 79%, respectively. However, the steady rise in revenue through the latter part of the year is still positive news for local operators, as the region continues to recover from the impact of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The recovery of Macau\u2019s gaming industry has been bolstered by several key regulatory changes. The government has taken a strong stance against illegal gambling<\/a>, with 36,000 illegal gambling websites blocked in the first half of 2024 alone. Furthermore, in October, a new law was introduced with stricter regulations aimed at curbing illegal gaming activities. These steps are part of broader efforts to safeguard the integrity of Macau\u2019s gaming sector.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the appointment of Sam Hou Fai as Macau\u2019s first Chief Executive from mainland China in October marks a new chapter in the region\u2019s leadership, signaling ongoing efforts to strengthen the local government\u2019s approach to governance and economic development.<\/p>\n
